Our Vision
We strive to ensure the promise of equal justice through the rule of law.
Who We Serve
The Institute for Democracy and Justice serves California’s adult population, from college-age and beyond.
Our Values
Justice. We are committed to the principle of the rule of law and to the ideal that all persons regardless of income, status, or residence have equal access to the courts and court services.
Independence. We believe that the constitutional principles of checks and balances and separation of powers call for a strong and independent judiciary with the resources necessary to ensure fair and efficient delivery of justice.
Leadership and Integrity. We maintain high standards in all of our endeavors, our programs, and in our work with partner organizations.
Relevance. We believe that civic learning is a lifelong pursuit and a necessary component of a functioning democracy. We seek to engage elected representatives and the public in exploring the essential role of the courts in the social and economic well-being of the state.
Public Service. We are committed to the common good and to working for the best possible future for the state and for all of its residents.
